The list could go on and on...

My sweet, loving, baking-good deprived husband surprised me last night with a brand-spanking new Kitchen Aid Professional 600 Series Mixer. This puppy could probably mix concrete! It has the large 6 qt. bowl with the side crank to raise and lower the bowl. I think that when you turn it on the angels of heaven come forth singing praises to the motor's unparalleled speed and power.

Okay, maybe not that last part.

My previous Kitchen Aid mixer went to the small home appliance farm in the sky a little over a year ago. Apparently I had managed to burn up the engine in my years of cookie and cake baking adventures (of which there were many!). Sadly the mixer's motor was no longer under warranty and the cost to ship the mixer and have said motor replaced would have cost roughly the same as buying a new mixer. So, I held off.

For the past year I have been making my baked goods by hand. That is a lot of extra time and energy when you are someone like me who bakes typically 2 to 3 times a week. Plus, I wasn't going to shell out the big bucks for the more powerful 600 series Kitchen Aid that I was now coveting from afar. Afterall, there was no way I was going to buy the same model I had had before...it only lasted me 3 years!

Thankfully my waiting days are over! I have yet to christen my new toy but I plan on doing some serious baking later today and certainly over the weekend while the boy's are at their dad's house.

What is your most coveted kitchen appliance? Do share!
