Casa de Pestilence

My kids tend to get sick more than most. It has to do with the fact that they both touch everything and anything and then put their hands in their noses, ears, and mouth about a thousand times a day. I have been told that all kids do this when they are little, but I would assume that most kids have not seen as much sickness as my brood in the past few months.
Since the beginning of 2009 I would say both boys have had at least 2 bouts of strep throat, 1 bout of stomach virus problems, and most recently a horrid case of staph which left them covered in boils that had to be lanced and drained numerous times which put our family on quarantine. I missed 7 straight days of work due to that disgusting infection.
Just when I was thinking I was going to actually make it a full 2 weeks without missing work due to a sick child, Sam woke up last night at 1:00 am with a fever.
In my Sunday School class we have been discussing the 10 plagues of Egypt prior to the exodus of God's people from slavery. One of those judgments is pestilence. So far the other nine seem to have escaped us....for now. I, personally, think the legion of frogs would be kind of cool, maybe even educational for the boys who love green slimy creatures like snakes, frogs, toads, and lizards. However, the others I would like to avoid at all costs.
So, for now I will continue to nurse King Petri Dish (I often refer to Noah as Sir Petri Dish when he is sick) and pray that Noah does not also fall ill. As all mothers know, the only thing worse than a sick child is sick CHILDREN!
